Paris mtg - April 18

Dress Code
  • Ensure your shoulders are covered
  • Dress code similar to those at Joseph Brant

Luggage
  • Suggested a 18 to 20 inch max, space in the hotels are very limited
  • EF tours will be providing a back pack as their carry on
  • Suggested attaching something that identifies it, tying it several times
  • Requested that the students have a money belt

Passports
  • Students will have the passports only at the times needed (boarding).
  • Mme will carry them while in Paris, securing them at the hotel
  • Requested a colour photo copy of passport given asap

Money
  • Have money converted prior to departure
  • Convert to Euros
  • Consider min amount of 10€ per day for lunch and money for souvenirs
  • In the past they haven't had safes in the room, in the past students have carried it with them in money belts
Discussion after the meeting included the use of a wallet for the day's budget of Euros; keeping the rest in the money belt safely tucked under their clothing.  This way they don't spend or loose their money.


Clothing (in luggage)
  • 2pts of pants, one of which you will be wearing
  • 2 pairs of shorts (Bermuda length)
  • Pyjamas
  • Light jacket or wind breaker
  • 1 warm sweater
  • Pair of comfortable and familiar running shoes, there will be a lot of walking
  • Pair of sandals
  • 6 pairs of socks
  • Hat (optional)

Clothing (in carry on)

  • essentials that could allow for a spare day if separated from luggage for any reason
Other items to consider in carry on:
  • Camera
  • Any medication, prescription meds need to have appropriate labels
  • Tylenol, Advil, or Gravol or travel mess needed to travel

Flight
Air Transat, from terminal 3
  • Evening flight, would like to meet at airport by 3 pm, flight leaves at 6:30
  • Car pools to be arranged especially for parents unable to
  • Pack a few snacks in the carry on for the whole trip, the airport is expensive.
  • Will be getting a meal on the flight; it won't be served till 10 or so

Car Pooling
Informal conversation will be started with students, formalized at the last meeting prior to leaving

Journal
  • Will be given a journal to document daily
  • 2 hours of homework each night to document day in their journals

Telephone Tree
  • Will be established by the end of the meeting tonight
  • Mr. Peters discussed and shared

Agenda
  • Will be going to the Catacombs with the students that want, €2 or 3 per child
  • There will be an opportunity for students who don't want to go to stay above
  • Medival Castle is a possible outside trip
  • Train ride to Chartres  €20
  • Would see the country side
  • Open to other tourist sites. Please leave your suggestions, Mme and Mr. Peters will investigate
  • Will take the class to computer lab to take a virtual tour and consider other sites to see

Tour Company
  • Will be having a tour guide the entire time
  • No dinner available for the extra day added to tour, they are considering a couple of ideas: restaurant, market, picnic
  • Will be having a tour bus for days 2 and 3, will be walking or taking the subway. The tour guide will give out the subway tokens as needed, no extra cost while on the tour. One exception is the last day, the one added to the tour, that will depend on the events that are scheduled

Next mtg May 31
  • Permission forms to be in
  • Back packs to be handed out
  • Color photo copies of the passports
  • Phone tree will be handed out
  • 18$ tips for the guide
